Alen Vartan, MPH CPHQ
Executive Director, National Quality Governance and Information Connection
For nearly ten years, Alen has served as a trusted advisor to Kaiser Permanente’s senior executive leadership. During his tenure, he has assumed roles with increasing responsibility both with National Health Plan & Hospital Quality and regional consulting for The Permanente Medical Group. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director for National Quality Governance & Information Connection. In this role, Alen has national accountability for planning and management of key Health Plan and Hospital Quality governance, incentive alignment, and regulatory functions in service to 12+ million members across eight geographic regions.
Prior to his tenure in Kaiser Permanente, Alen served as a Senior Consultant for Navigant Consulting’s Healthcare Strategy Practice. As an external consultant, he managed teams and developed enterprise-wide strategic and operational business plans for healthcare providers across a broad range of geographies, sizes, and ownership/affiliation. Alen also completed administrative internships with Yale-New Haven Hospital and Stanford Hospital & Clinics where he applied Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to spearhead inter-departmental rapid results operational improvement initiatives.
Alen earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Yale University, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
