Cathy Duquette is responsible for co-leading the system strategy for quality, patient safety and patient experience with her physician colleague, the executive vice president for physician affairs, as well as leading nursing and the organization’s efforts to implement lean and six sigma across the health system. Her more than 30 years in healthcare includes roles as senior vice president and chief quality officer of Rhode Island Hospital, vice president of nursing and patient care services and chief nursing officer at Newport Hospital, senior vice president at the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, and staff roles in hospital quality improvement and clinical nursing in the critical care setting. She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in nursing from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Worcester. She is also certified as a six sigma black belt.
