Sharon L. Anderson, RN BSN MS FACHE, is the senior vice president, quality and patient safety; chief virtual health officer and the director for the Center for Quality and Safety of the Value Institute at ChristianaCare based in Wilmington, Delaware.
Under her leadership, ChristianaCare has achieved national recognition related to several patient safety and quality initiatives, including Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals Award, the Joint Commission’s prestigious Ernest A. Codman Award and top rankings in Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Score.
ChristianaCare also has had several services recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Hospitals rankings and has been recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for several innovative quality and patient safety initiatives.
Anderson has helped develop several new programs to address the full continuum of cancer care, including prevention, screening, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment, management of complications and end-of-life issues. Anderson won the WHYY Community Caring Award for her innovative work in cancer care. She has experience working in a health plans and developed case, care and disease management programs for both commercial and Medicaid populations. Anderson is also a recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executives Regent’s Award in recognition of her significant contributions to excellence in healthcare management.
Anderson has experience as both a critical-care nurse and an administrator. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Delaware and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from The New School for Social Research in New York. Anderson is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has obtained additional certifications in healthcare quality and utilization management.
